Judith Fugate

Judith Fugate is a former principal dancer with New York City Ballet. During her time there, she danced for both George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins.

She joined New York City Ballet in 1973, was promoted to soloist in 1979, and to principal dancer in 1986.

Judith danced roles in virtually every ballet in the New York City Ballet repertoire, counting among her partners Peter Martins, Mikhail Baryshnikov and Helgi Tomasson.

She appeared on, “Live from Lincoln Center”, with Ray Charles, and danced in Metropolitan Opera’s production of “La Traviata”, conducted by Placido Domingo.

Judith works as repetiteur for the George Balanchine Trust and the Jerome Robbins Rights Trust, staging renowned choreographers’ works worldwide.
