Bill Self



Bill Self, men's basketball coach at the University of Kansas, led the Jayhawks to nine straight Big 12 Conference regular-season championships, and the 2008 NCAA national championship.


He was named Sporting News National Coach of the Year 3 times, the Associated Press National Coach of the Year, the USBWA Henry Iba Award winner, CBS/Chevrolet National Coach of the Year, ESPN.com National Coach of the Year, and won the Adolph Rupp Cup. He was named Big 12 Coach of the Year 4 times. He is also a five-time finalist for the Naismith Coach of the Year Award. He was a United Nations NGO Positive Peace Award nominee for his work with Boys and Girls Clubs Of America and Boy Scouts

From 2006 to 2012, Bill had the best six-year record of any men's basketball coach in Division 1 history.

Bill played college basketball at Oklahoma State University, where he was a four-year letter winner, and was an All Big Eight selection in 1982.
