Laid Off

This was my post 3 years ago, as we were bewildered by the incipient pandemic. I wish I knew what happened to this employee:

"Tuesday - I made this photograph in an upscale bar; it would normally be busy. The lone employee started her job 3 weeks ago, and was now being laid off due to the pandemic issue. Friday would be her last day.

Wednesday - In a parking lot, I found a $20. bill.

Thursday - I returned to the bar intending to give the $20. to the woman being laid off, knowing she needed it. She was no longer there. Approximately 60 food-and-beverage employees were laid off that week, and although she was scheduled to work until Friday, she was gone Thursday."

Fashion

My favorite photographs are often made within the context of an event, rather than the documentation.

I made this image near the end of a busy night of fashion mingling.

I slipped into the stairwell for a quick break from the crowd, and discovered others with the same desire.
