After 42 years in a Nebraska prison, Juneal Pratt was released in 2017 thanks to Midwest Innocence Project.
Mr. Pratt consistently maintained his innocence.
Although eligible for parole since 2001, it was denied, in part, because he was unwilling to admit to committing the crime.
Nebraska requires new evidence of innocence to be presented in one proceeding, and claims of ineffective assistance of counsel or state misconduct in a separate proceeding.
