Bobby Bell was an outstanding member of the Kansas City Chiefs, playing in the 1960's and 1970's.
In 1968, to support military personnel, Bobby was part of the NFL's USO Tour, visiting soldiers in Vietnam.
Bobby and the NFL group arrived in Vietnam the day a major escalation of the Vietnam war began: The Tet Offensive. It took the U.S. General Commander in Vietnam nearly 3 weeks to safely evacuate him, and the other USO Tour participants.
Bobby also visited active U.S. military personnel in Lebanon, the panama Canal, and more, lifting their spirits.
"One thing that has always been a priority for me, is to visit with the brave men and women of the United States military. After all, I just lined up and played football. They put their lives on the line every day for us." -Bobby Bell.
"Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it." -Bobby Bell
