Regina

#WomenYouShouldKnow

When young, my friend, Regina, saw the Rio Grande River often in southern Texas.

Large pipes emptied brown, polluted water into the river on both sides, and there were warnings to not drink the water.

She was curious why the water-quality issue was not being ameliorated.

Regina now works as a microbiologist for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where she analyzes water samples and provides laboratory guidance in the EPA's Office of Water.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, the Environmental Protection Agency featured her in a story.
