May is Military Appreciation Month.
I thank Brigadier General Bryan W. Wampler, United States Army, Retired, for two reasons:
- for your military leadership and service
- for asking if there was something you could do for me, as you expressed gratitude for the many photographs I had made for you.
A week earlier, I had applied for the White House Photographer position, so I suggested you put a good word in for me with the President.
We laughed at my suggestion. You laughed harder.
