Janis Ian wrote "Society's Child" in 1965 about what was then the off-limits topic of interracial romance.

Ms. Ian began writing the song at the age of 13, and finished it when she was 14 years old.

"Sing Out Sister" at Quality Hill Playhouse celebrates women of the American songbook, starring Katie Karel, Christina Burton, and LeShea W. Wright.
