My subjects are newsmakers: Actors who have starred in Academy Award-winning movies, Olympic gold medalists, book authors, runway fashion models, titans of business, U.S. Surgeon General, and two astronauts. I am an active member of the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television & Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS).
Many women are avoiding all things related to Independence Day, 2022.
Why celebrate independence, while furious and horrified about having a constitutional right removed?

What is one of the busiest days for animal shelters? July 5th.
More pets are lost July 4th than any other day of the year because of the startling noise of fireworks.

Consider celebrating Independence Day with no fireworks.
The noise, bangs, and the flashes are triggering.
Give thought to the stress of those involved in mass shootings, military veterans, and survivors of neighborhood violence. And, animals.
What happens July 4th is difficult, however expected. When explosions are heard July 3rd, they are unexpected, and often worse.
People with no post-traumatic-stress diagnosis may experience symptoms associated with trauma.
I made this photograph at the Tiny Houses Village of Veterans Community Project. Military veterans there were formerly homeless, and suffer with PTSD.

Harris Faulkner anchors two daily daytime FOX television programs, is a bestselling author, and six-time Emmy® Award-winning journalist.
This is a book cover I shot for Harris years ago.
I met her delightful mother, Shirley, and was saddened to learn of her passing two months after being diagnosed with cancer.
While Harris was a caregiver for her mother, Shirley told her, "I need for you to be the child I raised. Go make things better for other people."
Harris became active in raising breast cancer awareness by working with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the Avon Foundation for Women, and the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.
Additionally, Harris is involved with the Green Beret Foundation, which provides medical, transition, and family support for those who have served in the U.S. Army Special Forces, and with the Navy SEAL Foundation, which provides immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community and its families.

In 1985, Anthony was convicted of murdering two restaurant managers, a crime he did not commit.
He was poor, and a Black man dealing with the justice system in the South.
Anthony's sentence was to die by electrocution, and he spent the next 30 years on death row in an Alabama prison before being exonerated.

This photograph is from the movie set, "Infamous", years ago.
Director Douglas McGrath, far left, wrote this screenplay, plus 13 episodes of, "Saturday Night Live", and co-wrote, "Bullets Over Broadway", with Woody Allen.
He was nominated for an Academy Award and a BAFTA award for, "Bullets Over Broadway."
There are numerous acting, writing, and directing credits on his résumé.
As the sun set in Kansas, I pointed out the, "eosin sky." He had never heard it described that way, and liked it.
He used all my location suggestions, which was gratifying.
