He and Gary Burrell founded Garmin in 1989 to produce navigational
instruments for aviation and boating, utilizing the Global Positioning
System (GPS).
Prior experience was with Teledyne Systems, and research for NASA and the United States Army.
The word Garmin is a combination of Gary and Min.
